Without trying to sound too obvious, these past months have been tough on all of us. I've done smaller shoots here and there with some additional work alongside other photographers as their assistant, but I mostly sit and wait for the world to return to some sort of normalcy.
Among all of the chaos, this wedding was my bright light. Hal, one of my favorite friends, had told me about his feelings for Elle. He said his whole world changed when they met and that he couldn't see a future without her in it. When he asked me to capture their big day, I couldn't reply fast enough with an exuberant "YES!"
Their ceremony may have been quick, but that small room on the bottom floor of City Hall was filled with just as much emotion as a 300 person banquet hall. There were just the four of us- Hal, Elle, the judge and myself. After they both said "I do," they kissed (masks on, of course) and we headed back out to the street to shoot an intimate, romantic session. Although these photos are for Elle + Hal, they are also very special to me. Taking pictures of world-renowned artists and celebrities is cool and all, but being able to capture the wedding of a special friend is love in it's purest love for this sentimental photographer.
